My sincere sympathy to all the family and friends of Liz, with whom I worked at Holy Cross Hospital 50 years ago when we were both nurses on the Post Partum Unit. She was always quick on her feet to help our patients and our co-workers. Our friendship continued away from our work life and have had a lasting friendship over the years even though my family moved hundreds of miles away. I thought so much of her that I named my second child Mary Elizabeth. I am late sending this message because a Christmas card I sent to her in December just made it's way back to me as undeliverable after all these months. She is certainly a child of God, here on earth and now in heaven.

I had the pleasure and luck of having her as my nurse over 30 years ago at Holy Cross Hospital. Her knowledge and skill as an ET nurse was so comforting. She helped so many of us who were having this major surgery and I loved having her for my nurse. She was really there for me and a real angel! She´s going to be missed so very much!

Liz was a mentor and inspiration to all of us who work as Enterostomal Therapists. She was a dear friend and supportive of young nurses just getting started in the field. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ms O'Connor was among the first WOCN'S that joined the founder of the Metro MD Ostomy Assoc. INC. in 1975.
In 1978 she co-chaired a group of 450 persons in the Silver Spring hotel on "A day of ostomy learning." We have 4 discussion groups for the 4 surgeries and she was always encouraging her patients to attend these sessions where different speakers would talk on subjects like skin care, diets, exercise, etc. that impact their surgery.
Liz has been the keynote speaker at many of our monthly meetings on staying healthy, addressing issues from the audience. etc
From 1997 to 2018 our office has moved to 7 different locations and Liz has always been there for us.
She has never left the Holy Cross Hospital family and received a citation of 50 years service.
I will miss seeing you at the St Andrew parish in Silver Spring.
You, Ms O'Connor, have accomplished your assignment on this earth - a life well lived, a service to those in need, and a job well done. Your words of wisdom to people who are not always able to see beyond the surgery have found wellness in their healing process.
May you now rest in peace.

I never knew Liz in person, but over the years I've learned much about her, and benefitted from her deep spiritual grounding long distance. She was truly a beautiful soul, and I know she will be sorely missed. I am grateful to have come within her orbit May your memories of your closeness sustain you during this somber time.

Ms Oconner was my long term ostomy nurse. I met her when I was 13 years old I was recommended by my school nurse to see a ostomy nurse. She was very helpful and pleasant and had a solution to everything for my colostomy and urostomy issues. If one thing didn´t work she came up with other solutions. She didn´t give up and kept trying. Every time I had a new surgery she was always there by my side.she was a true angel anytime I was having issues or problem she was right there for me. It´s like she had instincts she would show up at my door. She was a a saint an angel. Every time I would see her it looked like there was halo around her head so much light on her face. I believe god had sent her in my life as an angel to look over me. She was always going above and beyond for me and my family. I always cherish all the memories with her. Thank you for all you have done. God has gained an angel I know you will continue looking down at me from heaven. Fly high beautiful angel

Liz was my father's ostomy nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in 1974. I remember her as extremely knowledgeable and so supportive to my father at that time of need. My father and our family appreciated Liz so much. As you can see, her contributions to patient care are memorable and worthy of mention and recognition. Thank you, and RIP.
