Gary Allen Barr, 64, of Martinsville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Roy E. and Glenna (Jennings) Barr.
Gary was a 1975 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School, a former All-American and All-Ohio defensive end, and a standout athlete. He was an avid fan of McClain Tiger football and basketball along with being a fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was formerly employed at Airborne/DHL of Wilmington and UPS.
He is survived by one son, Marcus (Tina) Barr of Wilmington; one daughter, Lindsey Barr of Columbus; one stepdaughter, Rachel (Russ) Garman of Lynchburg; one stepson, Brent (Nicole) Smith of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Aubrey, Brynn and Brant; four stepgrandchildren, Crosby, Aisley, Riley and Owen; two brothers, Gregory (Karen) Barr of Greenfield and David Barr (Scott Miller) of Clermont, Florida; one sister, Amy (Ron) Lewis of Springport, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and two dogs and one cat.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teah (Webb) Barr on Dec. 5, 2020; and both parents.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens in Wilmington.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
