Jennie Bono Obituary

Jennie Lynne Bono died peacefully on July 5th at Quail Park Memory Care Residence in Seattle, Washington. Jennie was born March 10th, 1945, to Tom and Jennie (Longo) Bono in Westerly, Rhode Island, where she grew up and attended high school. She trained to become a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD, and practiced for several years in New York City, caring for children with serious illnesses, before moving to Seattle and taking time off to raise her own dear boy. She later returned to the work she loved, devoting her brand of personalized care to patients of all kinds at Highline Hospital in Burien, WA. After retiring, she enjoyed her home, her numerous crafting projects, and listening to her favorite musicians-live, in concert, and via a vast CD collection. Music was Jennie's lifelong passion-she sang Everly Brothers tunes while doing the dishes as a girl, spent a glorious, muddy weekend at the Woodstock festival in '69, and made annual treks to hear Dave Matthews at the Gorge, on Washington's Columbia River.
Jennie kept up with family, friends and colleagues in long, newsy letters, written in the neat, tiny script she used for patient reports. She will be missed: by her husband, William Tanke, by her son, Jesse Pintel, his wife, Corri Richter, and her grandson, Kyler Richter, all of Seattle; by her sister, Mary Bono, and her husband Glenn Dorph of Warwick, NY; by her brother, David Bono, and his wife Romayne of Westerly, RI, and by cousins and friends, coast-to-coast.
We're grateful to everyone at Quail Park for their skill and generosity in caring for Jennie during the last two years and for the support they've extended to us, her family-a fitting reflection of the skill and loving care that Jennie rendered to so many over her long career. A memorial celebrating her free spirit and full life will be held at a time and date to be determined.
