Carl L. "Mabe" Mabry, 50, of Searcy passed from this life on Tuesday, July 12. He was born on Nov. 28, 1971, to Bobby and Lou Mabry in Memphis, Tenn.
Mabe grew up in Senatobia, Miss., where he was an honor graduate from Senatobia High School in 1989. He graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in Business Administration in 1993. He worked as a manager in the manufacturing field for 16 years before he went to work at Farm Bureau in Searcy as an Insurance Agent in 2010. He always joked that he wished he had gone to work for Farm Bureau straight out of college. He loved his job, his people and he enjoyed taking care of those he had insured.
Mabe is survived by his wife, Jenni Mabry, his mother, Lou Mabry, and a stepson that he loved like his own son, Parker Stephenson. Although Mabe had no biological children, he also had two stepchildren that he loved dearly from his first marriage, Nathan Hayes and Samantha Doyle. He was a great role model and influence in all of their lives. Mabe was also the best "Pops" to Jayden Cruz Stephenson and Healey Kay Benton. He was "Mabe" to Garrett and Bella Hayes, and Blayden and Lennyx Doyle. Mabe is also survived by his aunts, who were like second mothers to him and he often referred to them as the "Golden Girls;" many special cousins and childhood and business friends. He is also survived by who he referred to as his second dad and mentor, Ronnie Mcfarland. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Mabry, and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mabe adored his family and he truly was "one of the good ones." He loved college football and college baseball and followed his alma mater of Ole Miss. He never met a stranger, and he will always be remembered for his bright and energetic personality. His energy for life was contagious, and even though he departed this Earth at such a young age, he constantly reminded those around him that he knew his life "was in God's hands, and he knew where he was going when he died due to the fact he was saved during a Revival at Ebenezer Church on Nov. 5, 1986, when he gave his life to Jesus and never looked back." He was a loving husband, a wonderful stepfather and he lived his best life as Pops.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy, with Bro. James Hays and Dr. Jimmy Carr officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Honey Hill Cemetery.
