Peggy Penn Obituary

Peggy Jean (Reynolds) Penn, 83, of Sweetwater passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Peggy was born March 13, 1939 at Brownwood, Texas to the late Sturgis John and Lena Viola (Jones) Reynolds. She married Calbert A. "Cal" Penn May 27, 1957 at Brownwood, Texas. They moved to Sweetwater in 1973, from San Marcos, Texas. Peggy was a graduate of Brownwood High School. She had been a telephone switchboard operator, a Hayes County Sherriff's Deputy, worked for Watson-Focht Printing Company, owned and operated Sweetwater Office Supply and worked for Kinsey Printing Company for many years. She also worked and retired from the Sweetwater Housing Authority. Peggy was a Baptist. She is survived by her children; Cal Penn and wife Jannetta of Odessa, Texas, Kim Mardis of Sweetwater and Jason Penn of Sweetwater, her grandsons; Jacob Mardis of Sweetwater and Michael Cox and wife Katherine of Rockport, Texas, and granddaughter; Jessica Jordan and husband Gerald of Odessa and 10 great-grandchildren. Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband Cal, January 30, 2014, sister Patsy Martin and brother Bobby Jack Reynolds. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023 with Rev. Keith Clifton officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A family and friend's visitation will be from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Sam Reagan, Clifton Mullins, Kenneth King, Sam Mardis, Donnie Clark, Craig Turner, Glenn Penn, Randy Lindsey, Richard Penn and Craig Stockton.
