Robert Pittman Obituary

San Luis Obispo, California - Robert Eugene Pittman, 94, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday May 14, 2023. He was born on November 12, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to Wilfred and Elizabeth Pittman.
Bob was a sales & service representative with The ARO Corp. in the aeronautical engineering industry, working at Lockheed Martin and Edwards Air Force Base in southern CA for over 40 years. He was particularly proud to be a part of the Skunk Works division at Lockheed, focused on supersonic aircraft and stealth, surveillance & reconnaissance technologies in support of our national security intelligence and defense capabilities.
Married to his wife Carol for 55 years (now deceased), they've called San Luis Obispo their home for the past 25 years, and were members of the Mission San Luis Obispo Parish where Bob served as a Greeter and Eucharistic Minister.
Bob is survived by their four children Jeff, John, Gregg, and Dave; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and extended family members.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Mission San Luis Obispo Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission www.missionsanluisobispo.org or Wilshire Hospice for the Central Coast www.wilshirehcs.org

Our entire family will hold Bob's memory in our hearts. He and his family were more than friends for so many years. We cherished the times we could be together.

How does one quantify a life long friendship of couples? Bob and Carol were diamonds, not in the rough, true and perfect gems. May they rest in peace, together. Thank you to their amazing children for the love, respect and care they have always given. Our lives were made so much more special because of them. Hold their memories forever dear in your hearts, as will we.

Bob was a gem. Met him only recently on a dog walk in our neighborhood and enjoyed visiting with him. His life was very different and interesting, he was involved with very experimental jet aviation and also just a "aw shucks" personality and wonderful outlook on life. I will miss this unique man.
