I am saddened for Barbara at the sudden loss of her beloved John, more than 61 years her beloved. John was a fine man and he was blessed to enjoy a wonderful union with Barbara from age 14 on! My sincere condolences to Barbara and the family. I remember John's daughter and adorable grandson playing banjo for LJ Rotary at our meeting years ago. I am a better personfor having known John.

Chuck and I first met John and Barbara when they became members of a group who met to "read" plays for fun and personal growth. In the years that followed, he became our friend and lawyer. When we consulted with him, it was always a certainty that he had our best interests in mind. His clarifying questions and thoughtful advice, his unceasing warmth, and his love of both his profession and the people he served were evident in everything.

I met John back in 1988 when I built his office Brown and Brown at the Plaza La Jolla. It was such a joy getting to work with John on his office his kindness and thoughtfulness I left a memory for me I’ll never forget.

I am so sad to hear that John has passed. Everything that was said about him in this beautiful tribute is true. He was a man of boundless kindness, erudition and spirit. He lived life to the fullest and blessed all of us with the pleasure of his company. At an era when the loudest and crudest seem to drown out the gentle and thoughtful people, there are still many, including John's friends, who cherish what he stood for as a person and role model. And his pride , love and support for Barbara, Alison and Meredith set the gold standard for a husband and father. While said before of people from his generation, it is still so true, the world will be a lesser place without John.
