Gregory Cavanagh Obituary

The oldest of three boys, Greg was raised in Point Loma's wooded area. He spent his early years riding his Sting-Ray bicycle with friends, enjoying an idyllic boyhood. Greg was athletic, excelling at youth baseball and any sport he pursued. Greg had a cheerful yet competitive nature and loved the camaraderie of team sports. He took up surfing at an early age and was an avid waterman. In his late teens Greg became a boxing enthusiast; he was a skilled novice boxer, training several times weekly into his 30s.
In his 20's he began a career in real estate. He eventually developed his own brokerage in San Diego. Greg enjoyed tackling unique transactions that required patience and clear communication. His natural curiosity and friendly nature provided numerous deep long-term relationships.
Greg developed a deep faith as a boy which served him throughout his life. His involvement in church included Lector/Eucharistic minister to the homebound, Parish Council President, Founder of Young Adult program at the Immaculata. His volunteer work included Meals on Wheels, Big Brother, United Way, and Little League coach.
Greg began dating the love of his life, Mirna, in 1996, marrying in April 2000. They had three boys, Jake, Luke, and Shane. Greg's enduring passion in life was his family - he structured his work and hobbies around the needs of Mirna and the boys. His family was always the top priority, he was a loving and attentive husband and father.
Greg is survived by his wife Mirna, sons Jake, Luke, and Shane, mother Dee, brothers Tim and Dan, and their families.
A service is planned for Saturday, December 30 at 10 AM in the Immaculata at USD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Responsibility (responsibilityonline.org).

My deepest condolences Mirna! I was attending mass at Saint Charles Borromeo last evening (Holy Thursday), I heard Father Mentioned that mass was for Greg Cavanaugh´s intention. I was shocked and had to looked him up.
My husband David and I are Greg´s friends since Coast Federal Bank days. David is our Lord in Heaven as well. I hope they are having fun chatting up there. You´re loved, Brianne

Greg was always a fun and gentle soul. He would hang out at lunch at the top of the stairs with the "cool kids";) I will always remember his smile and handsome face and in my mind forever young
