Walden Gault Obituary

Walden Townsend (Tony) Gault

1931 - 2022

Sandy, UT—Walden Townsend (Tony) Gault died June 27, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Hartford, CT, September 2, 1931, to Carroll Lever Gault and Anne Townsend Gault. He graduated from McGill University in 1953. After serving in the military, he obtained a master's degree in business from the University of Denver in 1960. Tony began his career at IBM in Utah. He met his wife, Marla Ackerson who was also working at IBM. They married November 25, 1961. He had a successful career at IBM, Xerox, Nike, Dyson and finally as president of Sunflex, an early Silicon Valley tech company in Santa Clara, CA. He and Marla retired to Sandy, UT. Tony was active in community affairs and received a civic award for his drought resistant landscaping. A voracious reader, he especially enjoyed novels about the Old West. Always fascinated by aviation, he became a pilot while living in Oregon. Tony was a lifelong avid golf and tennis player.

Tony is survived by his loving wife Marla, their dog Meeka, his brother Richard Gault, his sister Anne Gault, his nephew Shawn Parks and numerous friends and loved ones. He will always be remembered for his sharp mind, an even-handed approach to situations, and his mischievous sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to The Jackson Hole Land Trust.
