Lawrence Karp Obituary

Karp, Lawrence B., - 87, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Lawrence B. Karp, 87, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and formerly of Margate, NJ, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2022. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Rochelle, his sons, David Karp (Caren), Jonathan Gelula (Karen) and grandchildren Michael, Jennie, Max and Dylan. Larry was an Atlantic City area native, graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1952, attended Michigan State University and then graduated from Temple University in 1956. The son of a restauranteur, Larry owned and operated his own restaurant in Ventnor, NJ for years before changing careers in the early 1960's, becoming an investment advisor which would be his successful vocation until his eventual retirement in 2001. During those years, he was affiliated with Walston & Company and then A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., where he managed Atlantic City offices in Northfield and Linwood, NJ. Larry was an eternal optimist and loving friend who doted on his family - especially his grandchildren - whom he enjoyed immensely. He was an ardent supporter of Israel, loved the New York Yankees and his numerous travel experiences with family and friends, food, scotch and golf, particularly when he did not feel compelled to loft his clubs into a tree. Larry and Rochelle spent the last 40 years as Palm Beach residents, mostly at BallenIsles in Palm Beach Gardens, where they had a wonderful life of friends, golf, bridge and dining out. He will be sorely missed but remembered with love. Services will be held Friday, May 27th at 11am at Temple Judea on Hood Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Judea (www.TempleJudeaPBC.org).
