W. Hunsberger Obituary

W. Brian Hunsberger, 62, of Harrisburg, left the earth for his final journey to heaven on March 12, 2022, in the ICU at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center after complications from treating a rare non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was a brave fighter beyond words. Brian was born December 20, 1959, in Allentown, PA, to William and Jean (Walker) Hunsberger. Brian was a graduate of the Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, PA, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from East Stroudsburg University in 1983. Brian retired in June 2021 from the PA Department of General Services after 31 years of public service working as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager for the Bureau of Engineering and Architecture. Brian was a true sportsman. His passion was bow and rifle hunting white-tailed deer and turkey in PA as well as hunting trips to Manitoba and Quebec, Canada, Colorado, Idaho, and Maine where he hunted deer, elk, caribou, bear, and moose. Brian was an adventurer, risk taker, and enjoyed motorcycle/ATV riding, boating, camping, fishing, and skiing to name a few of his many interests. He proudly earned a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo, and rode motorcycle with the American Legion Post 272, Linglestown. Brian was an active follower of Christ and was a member of the Christian community. Surviving are daughter, Laura Faith Hunsberger; mother, Jean Hunsberger; sisters, Carolyn (Bradley) Elison and Doris (Walter) Flandorfer, niece, Tracy Kurtz; nephew, Christopher Elison; former wife, Patricia Hunsberger; girlfriend, Toni Malach (who was by Brian's side throughout his journey fighting lymphoma) and Swisher, Brian's beloved cat, and aunts, cousins, and many friends. Brian was predeceased by his father, William A. Hunsberger. Memorial services will be held on March 21, 2022, 3:00 P.M., at the Geigle Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 2-3 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Penn State University, Cancer Research, 1249 Cocoa Ave, Suite 115, P.O. I just heard the sad news of Brian's passing. Our parents were lifelong friends, and he was also my childhood friend and then later college roommate at ESU for several years. We had so many good times filled with fun and laughter. I recently found some old pictures of us when we were young and would occasionally text him a copy.
As I read his obituary, it is clear that he accomplished much in his lifetime and was loved and respected by many. My deepest condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Brian on many State projects. His personality and professionalism always made him standout amongst his peers. Loved discussing cars and bikes with him. Just a great guy in all respects. Deepest sympathy to all his loved ones.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I haven't been in touch with Brian for years but we spent a lot of time together in high school. He was a great, funny guy!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat, Laura, family and friends during these difficult times. I've known Brian from our early years at the James W. Good School in Allentown. One of the smartest and toughest guys I've known with a great heart. RIP Brian
