Marcel Pierre Obituary

Marcel "Shirt" Louis Pierre entered into eternal rest On March 5, 2024, at the age of 78 at his home in Edgard, LA. Marcel was born on February 8, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was the 3rd of 10 children. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard. He attended and graduated from Second Ward High School in Edgard in 1964 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He worked at Avondale Shipyard, Monsanto Company (where he retired after 35 years) and Louis Armstrong International Airport. Marcel was extremely generous and loved life. He loved to laugh, cook, work on projects around his house and was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan! He is survived by three sons, Damian, Demarius and Duran, daughter Marley Gauthier and granddaughter Kassidy Mary Ann Pierre. He is survived by siblings; Marvin Pierre (Lorraine), Marva Stewart (Charles), Evelyn Pierre, Jimmy Pierre (Pauline), Cynthia Thibodeaux (Carl), and Ricketta Livingston (Kim). He leaves to cherish his memory life companion Joycelyn Roussel Smith, a host of nieces, nephews, goddaughter Ivy Grows, family, and many friends. Marcel was preceded in death by his parents, Ettiennette "Sister" Songy Pierre and Joseph "Joe Box" Pierre, Jr., brother Glenn Pierre and sisters Daigisele "Gisele" Pierre and Earlie Saul and Ex-wife Mary Ann Pierre. Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and Parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church are invited to a Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049. Visitation 8:00am until time of Funeral Mass. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:00am. Interment will be private at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Mausoleum.
