Kenneth Gandolfi Obituary

Kenneth Michael Gandolfi passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024. He was 64 years old and a life long resident of New Orleans and Metairie, Louisiana. Kenny was born on September 23, 1959 to Glenn Mary Garrity and Stanley Gandolfi in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from East Jefferson High School in 1977, Kenny received a degree in mechanical engineering from The University of New Orleans. With his former spouse Suzanne Guidry (Perez), Kenny was the proud father of four children, Brad Gandolfi (Kaitlin), Mandy (Gandolfi) Ehrensperger (Jake), Ben Gandolfi (Toni) and Melissa Gandolfi. Kenny was 'Pawpaw' to 7 grandchildren, Luca, Ellis, Madeline, Jacob, Parker, Sadie and Zachary and beloved by his 7 siblings - Mary Ann, Gary, Tommy, Laurie, Jaimie, Becky and Fran. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 7 siblings, and more nieces and nephews than can be counted. He loved his children and family very much. Special thanks to the Cvitanovich/Drago's family for their support and love of Kenny over the years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass that will be held at St. Christopher the Martyr Church, 3900 Derbigny Street, Metairie, LA on July 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary's Dominican High School for a scholarship in Glenn Mary Garitty Gandolfi and Stanley Gandolfi's name.

Kenny and I went to East Jefferson H.S. together and then we worked at least one summer after H.S. at the same construction company (Max & Associates). He was just an overall great guy to be around. A great athlete, but humble and never a braggart. We had great fun working a tough job in sweltering New Orleans summers. Everyone in the crew had a nickname. His was "Meatball" because he loved the meatball po-boy sold by one of the lunch trucks that came to the jobsites. I bumped into him at Drago's about two years ago and enjoyed catching up. He talked at great length and with deep appreciation about his very successful kids and his grandchildren. Deepest condolences to his family and may he rest in peace. Kevin LaVie

Ken's son Ben is married to my daughter Toni. Every time we got together he was so kind and friendly. He was so proud of his children . For that is all he would talk about. We would usually see him at Drago's where he was always smiling. he was a really neat guy and we will miss him.

Kenny and I are just a few weeks apart in age. We grew up next door to each other and could talk to each other through the chain link fence. Kenny was a very good athlete....I was (how shall we say?) not. He always looked out for me. At school recess, he was usually one of the two team captains who got to choose the people on his team in alternating order. I was near the bottom of the barrel being slow and unable to catch (but otherwise really good), but Kenny ALWAYS picked me for his team and before I was the absolute last one picked. That stuck with me all these years.
