He was born on March 26, 1961, in Seoul, South Korea and then adopted through the Holt Orphanage to Winifred F. Jones Corbin and the late Richard O. Corbin.
Bill graduated from Seneca High School in 1979, where he participated in many of the Bobcat athletic programs, including football, basketball, and track & field.
Following high school, he began work at Petty Ray Geo-Physical in oil exploration and seismograph surveying, and worked in many of the western states. He briefly returned home to work at the Harborcreek family business, ShurFine Grocery store, but was later drawn back out west to work at a high school friend's business, Straight-line Surveying. After that, he returned back to Erie to study electricity and electronics at the Erie Institute of Technology. Following his studies at E.I.T., he resumed work with his father at Albion ShurFine Grocery where he was the current owner.
Bill loved spending time with his family and attending his children's sporting events. He was the Fairview basketball coach for 5th, 6th and 7th grades and mini-league, and took great joy in the success of his teams. He also enjoyed fishing on the local streams for Steelhead Trout, playing his guitar, and was once lead guitarist for the local band, "Ice."
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Judith "Judi" (Chilcoat) Corbin, whom he married May 11, 1988, in Fairview; a daughter, Bethany D. Corbin; three sons, Gary M. Corbin, Marc A. Corbin and Tyler R. Corbin; a sister, Betty Lou Fox and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2PM to 6 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, PA 16417.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the William Corbin Memorial Fund, C/O Edder Funeral Home Inc.
