Virginia Mildred "Ginny" Peterson, 88, of Fremont, NH passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on February 10, 2025 after many years of failing health.
Born in Portsmouth, NH Ginny was the 12th of 13 children born to the late Clarence and Nellie Walker. She grew up on the family farm on Drakeside Road in Hampton, NH, and was a proud 1956 graduate of Hampton Academy. On June 20, 1963, she married Philip Peterson and moved to his dairy farm in Fremont. Together they shared over 45 wonderful years until Philip's passing in 2008.
In her younger years, Ginny embraced a life filled with adventure and hard work. She enjoyed horseback riding and even trained her own team of oxen, competing at local fairs. Known for her warm personality, Ginny never met a stranger--always ready to spark up a conversation with anyone. She had a particular fondness for car rides and reading road maps, always exploring and appreciating the journey. A true farm wife at heart, Ginny loved her family, cherished any social gathering, and was a devoted fan of both the Red Sox and the Patriots. She also loved attending auctions, bailing hay and chopping corn, never one to quit early, always stayed to the end to make sure every last scattering of hay was baled or row of corn was chopped, you could count on Ginny to finish. She was Philip's trusted "co-pilot" on many trips hauling mail to White River Junction, VT and Hartford, CT, she rarely missed a night.
Ginny is survived by her step-son Albert Peterson (and his wife Judy) of Fremont, NH; her two daughters, Brenda Barthelemy (and her husband Scott) of Fremont, NH and Linda Lennon (and her husband John) of Exeter, NH; 6 grandsons and 10 great grandchildren; her brothers Donald Walker, Ralph Walker, and Carl Walker; her sister and best friend, Elaine Nadeau; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Ginny's kindness, hard work, and genuine connection to others will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 5-7 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond NH. In lieu of flowers, get out your maps, take a drive, and enjoy the adventure.
Rest in Peace, Ginny--you will always be remembered and forever loved.
