It is with a very heavy heart that we share the loss of Mildred "Mitzi/Millie" "Mom" "Granny" Severson who passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 99 years. While we knew this day would come, it is hard to ever feel prepared because she has been the constant for so many lives
Mitzi was beloved by her family. Her marriage to Russ "Dad" "Grandad" Severson for 57 years was an inspiration to all. There was never a question, her marriage was one of her proudest accomplishments. She loved and was deeply loved by her daughter, Piper. She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin and her sister Sarah (Sally). She was so proud of her five grandchildren, Michael (Jimena) DeAngelis, Rebecca DeAngelis, Robert DeAngelis, Steven (Luisa) Sheahan and Jeanne (Doug) Higgins and eight great-grandchildren.
Mitzi & Russ were in many ways explorers, hand building a cabin in the 1950s with no electricity. While her husband, Russ, built the walls and structure of the family cabin, it was Mitzi who handmade the quilts and blankets we used to keep us warm at night. While Russ was eager to wash the dishes as that was "man's work" in his eyes, it was because Mitzi had made four pies and never could understand why people wouldn't just make their own handmade crust.
We love you, Mitzi, Mom & Granny. We find peace knowing you are reunited with Russ, Robin, and the many family members & friends we have lost, but treasure in our hearts, who loved and were loved by you and all of us. We'll see you on the other side.
The family would like to thank the loving care of the staff at Care-Age of Brookfield, especially her favorite CNA, Ken and the caring staff of Badger Hospice.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 followed by a brief service at the funeral home.
