Matthew Christopher Hessey, age 33, of New Castle, DE, was tragically killed on Monday, July 11, 2022.

Born in Newark, DE, on July 27, 1988, he was a son of Walter and Patricia (Hessey) Landreth. Matthew was dedicated employee at HomeGoods where he worked in the security loss prevention department.

Matthew attended Glasgow High School. He worked in various professions. Matthew was a "Jack of all Trades" and could fix anything. He was a man of integrity and honor, and all who knew him loved him. Matthew loved people and made friends wherever he went. He had a passion for animals. Most importantly, Matthew was a family man and he always put his family first.

Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert D. Hessey; and father-in-law, Keith Stranahan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his biological father, Richard Stewart; wife, Jessicann Hessey; daughter, Khylie Keith Hessey; siblings, Allison Landreth, Zack Landreth, and Cameron Landreth (Danielle); maternal grandmother, Patricia Hessey; sisters-in-law, Josie Woodall (William), and Carly Stranahan; brother-in-law, Rob Walker; mother-in-law, Donna Stranahan; aunts, Theresa Hessey (Megan), and Libby Greenberg; best friend, C.J. Noel and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matthew's memory to the Khylie Hessey Custodian Fund, USAA Federal Savings, 10750 McDermott Freeway, San Antonio, TX 78288
