Kenneth Alvey Obituary

Kenneth Alvey, 81, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 22, 1943 in Evansville to the late William G. and Anna Marie (Zeller) Alvey.
Kenneth attended St. Benedict Catholic School and graduated from Memorial High School. He served in the United States Navy. In 1970, Kenneth started the local company Alvey Signs in his garage. Due to his hard work and dedication, the company has become a nationwide commercial sign manufacturer and is still open today. Kenneth was an active member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a member of the Tri-State Woodcarvers Club and enjoyed his hobby of carving birds. Kenneth also enjoyed teaching his craft of carving to his many students.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Alvey; daughter, Jane (James) Bassemier; son, Michael (Samantha) Alvey; grandchildren, Kenzie Bassemier, Pamela Alvey, Samantha Alvey, Aiden Alvey and Autumn Alvey; great-granddaughter, Layla Spears; sister, Brenda (Tom) Anslinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his sisters, Billie Marie Cook, Bonnie Bainbridge and Barbara Alvey.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church, 12300 S 50 W., Haubstadt. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Kenneth Betz officiating.
Burial will be a St. James Church Cemetery.
