Gregory Shaffer Obituary

Gregory A. Shaffer, 58, of Geneva, OH and formerly of Springfield Twp., died Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Saybrook Landing Health and Rehabilitation in Ashtabula.
He was born December 15, 1963, in Erie, a son of the late Nancy A. (Petri) Shaffer and John W. Shaffer of Girard.
Greg attended high school at Northwestern High School in Albion, where he was noted for his incredible fastball, pitching baseball for the Wildcats.
Following high school, he began employment on the greens crew of both Lake Shore Country Club and the Kahkwa Club. He worked for many years at Grettler Meats in Girard as a butcher. Greg was a huge Las Vegas Raiders fan, loved fishing on Crooked Creek in Platea and Springfield as well as bass fishing on local ponds. He married the love of his life Carol in 2009 and took great care of his wife Carol when she was ill as well as her mother Arvina until their passing.
In addition to his mother, Nancy, Greg was preceded in death by his wife Carol L. (Anthony) Shaffer.
Greg will be greatly missed by his family, which include his father, John W. Shaffer; two brothers, James R. Shaffer (Gerri) and Timothy J. Shaffer (Karen); nieces, Mary Shaffer, Cassidy Smock (Chase); nephews, Matthew Shaffer, Jason Parnell (Jackie), Shawn Parnell (Jessie), Kyle Shaffer and Corey Shaffer also several great nieces and nephews; his beloved cats, Tia, Cassy and Tony and his dog, Hercules.
Friends may call on Tuesday July 5 from 2PM to the time of a Service at 5 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
Final interment will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
