Barbara (Fitzgerald) Almeda, age 85 of Raynham, passed away March 31, 2025 at her home with family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard "Dick" Almeda.
Born 1939 in Norton ma, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Elsie (Brenner) Fitzgerald.
Barbara graduated from Norton High School in the class of '57.
After highschool she went to work at Grossman's Lumber where she met her late husband. They were married in 1961 and resided in Raynham with their 3 children.
For many years, Barbara was a bookkeeper for multiple small businesses as well as for her husband's heating and air conditioning company which is still in business today.
Later, Barbara worked 20 years at the Silver City Galleria in the handbag section of the department store Filene's/Macy's. She took great pride in helping each and every customer that walked through the door.
Outside of work, she loved to travel with her husband and friends, take frequent trips to the casino, and spend time with family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children: Cindy McGovern and husband Bob, David Almeda, Daniel Almeda and wife Jeanne, grandchildren; Jeff McGovern and wife Saige, Greg McGovern and wife Jenna, Andrew McGovern, Elise McGovern, Alannah Almeda, great-grandchildren; Finnigan, Amelia, Jameson,Virginia, Madison, sisters; Bertha Ferrier and Patricia Pestana and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Fitzgerald and Thomas Fitzgerald.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 12 to 2 pm with a service at 2 pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (Saint Mary's Square).
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
Burial will be held privately.
