Vivian Graham Obituary

CONWAY | Mrs. Vivian Brand Graham, 91, formerly of Lancaster, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Kingston Nursing Center in Conway.

She was born February 8, 1916 in Hartsville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Jesse DeLeslie Brand and Maybelle Ellis Brand. Mrs. Brand graduated from Hartsville High School and was married for 71 years to the late Heyward C. Graham.

Mrs. Brand served as secretary at First United Methodist Church and then as legal secretary for Gregory & Gregory, Attorneys at Law, for over 30 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Lioness Club.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to cook special foods for her family.

Mrs. Graham was survived by her daughter, Beverly G. Bass and her husband, the Rev. J. Anderson Bass Jr., of Conway; and her son, Col. James D. Graham, retired, and his wife, Nathalie, of Damascus, Va.; six grandchildren, including Andy Bass III and his wife, Vanetta, of Rock Hill, Blair Bass and his wife, Teresa, of Charlotte, and Beth Turner and her husband, the Rev. Paul Turner, of Easley; and five great-grandchildren, Anderson Bass IV, Leslie and Carrie Turner, and Abigail and Gracelynn Bass; four sisters, Mabel Small of Heath Springs, Genoese Quetel and Eunice Parker of Gastonia, N.C., and Jennie Cauthen of Lancaster; and a brother, Robert Brand and his wife, Lib, of Charlotte, N.C.

Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years in January of this year; one sister, Mary Ella Gibson; and two brothers, Charles Brand and J.D. Brand.

The Celebration of Life funeral service for Mrs. Graham will be held 2 p.m.Thursday, December 6, 2007, at First Baptist Church of Lancaster by the Rev. Roy Barnes, with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family of Mrs. Graham will receive friends one hour prior to services, from 1 until 2 p.m., in the lobby of the Family Life Center.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to her doctor, and the staff and nurses of the Care Lane at Kingston Nursing Center and Mercy Hospice.
