Signa Adcock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2025.
Signa Laverne Peters Adcock, born January 29, 1938, age 87, of Whorton Bend in Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 15, 2025, at 7:55 p.m., surrounded by the love of her family.

Born to Gladys Hodges Phillips and Troy Peters, Signa was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. She was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where her church family meant the world to her.

Signa worked for over 25 years in the medical field, beginning her career in Physical Therapy before transitioning to the Cardiopulmonary Department at the original Baptist Hospital - now known as Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Her compassion, work ethic, and care for others was remembered fondly by coworkers and patients alike. She chose to work second shift so she could stay on the same schedule as her beloved husband, Buck.

A true Southern woman through and through, Signa was known for her memorable laugh, sweet Southern drawl, and the way she lovingly called people "darling" and "sister." She had a servant's heart and a gift for making people feel at home. Her love language was food - and no one ever went hungry around her. She poured her heart into every dish she cooked, and every meal was seasoned with love.

She loved fishing, going to yard sales, and especially shopping at the Gold Show. But above all, her greatest joy was her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her home was always open and full of warmth.

Signa was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman L. "Buck" Adcock; her infant twin daughters, Shirley and Sherleen; her mother, Gladys Hodges Phillips; her father, Troy Peters; her half-brothers, Dennis Peters and Keith Peters; and her brother-in-law, Melvin Lyles.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Kay) Adcock and Toni (Lance) Williamson; her grandchildren, Jared (Jamie) Williamson, Joshua (Scot) Williamson-Perry, Chase Adcock, Andrew Adcock, and Madison Adcock; her great-grandchildren, Kami, Kensie, and Eli Williamson; her sisters, Judy (Sid) Moyer and Alma Lee Lyles, wife of the late Melvin Lyles; her half-brother, Glenn Peters; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

Signa lived a life of grace, strength, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the laughter, kindness, and good food she left behind.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
