James Rush Obituary

James Rush, of East Norriton, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died May 23, 2024, age 84.

James Rush passed away at home surrounded by those closest to him after a valiant battle with dementia. James was the beloved husband of Barbara (née Conway) for 63 years, and the loving father of Michael Rush, Karen Rush, and Kristen Rush-DeAnda (née Rush) (Victor).

He is also survived by his sisters Mary (Rush) Markey (Mace), Suzanne (Rush) Cirigliano (Joseph), and his brothers Patrick Rush (Joan), Daniel Rush (Katherine), and Thomas Rush. He was predeceased by his sisters Patricia (Rush) Concordia (Aldo), Jean (Rush) Clements (Bobby), and his brother Joseph Rush (Virginia). James will be greatly missed by countless relatives and friends.

Though James jokingly requested "Here lies a working man" to be written on his tombstone, his family and friends know this epitaph falls woefully short of describing him. Above all, he was a devoted father who cared for his disabled son until dementia robbed him of the ability to do so.

While he spent his working life in demanding jobs, in the printing business and the US Postal Service, he remained cheerful and quick-witted, always cracking jokes and making new friends. He enjoyed sharing his love of poetry and literature with fellow bibliophiles and looked forward to family gatherings and staying in touch with his St. Tommy More and East Falls friends.

James Rush touched many lives and had a positive impact on the world around him. His light will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:00AM, with a receiving line starting at 10:30AM, at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Eagleville, PA 19403.
