James Robinson Obituary

James H Robinson passed away on December 24, 2023 with those he loved most close by.

Jim was a husband, father, Papa, Big Jim and Prune to those who knew him best. He was born and raised in Warren, Ohio and made his way West where he found himself at Idaho State University. Although he held many degrees, the one that he held closest to his heart was education. Jim had recently retired after 25 years teaching in American Falls, Inkom, and Pocatello. When he wasn't educating or coaching the youth of Eastern Idaho he could be found working security at ISU and Salt Lake City.

Jim's most proud achievement was marrying the love of his life, Virginia. She supported him in all of his glory during his hey day, and washed all of his superhero shirts with eyerolls and love for the past 49 years. He was the father of two amazing children, Krystala and JT, who have helped bless their family with families of their own. Krystala, married to army veteran, Aaron, with three children; Jackson James, and twins Olivia Grace and Aryia Rose. JT found a beautiful teacher of his own, Celie, and have Jim's namesake in their son, Hayes.

The way Jim died is just like he lived; he wrote his own story. If you said he couldn't do something, he would always figure out a way and do it smiling. Jim was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and firm understanding of what was important-the simplicity of living a life with those you love most.

In addition to his family, Jim is survived by his brother, Richard A. Robinson (Ohio); his sister, Patricia A. Maple-Gordon (Ohio); and Cynthia L. Wade (New Jersey). He also has a host of nephews, nieces and cousins as well as his sister-in-law, Ursula Robinson (Germany).

Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Grace R. Robinson White; his father, James H. Robinson, Sr., and two siblings, Zedeus H. Robinson and Josetta M. Day-Logan.

Jim's presence was larger than life. His smile lit up a room and his hugs left you feeling safe and protected. He always left you needing just one more. A Big Man. A Big Heart. Our Big Jim.

His Rosary will be said Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:25 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Community (St Antony's Chapel), 524 N 7th St, Pocatello, Idaho. Immediately following will be Jim's Memorial Service and Mass. We will then celebrate his life with an "After Party" at The Elks Lodge #674 410 S Main St, Pocatello, Idaho. A live stream of Jim's service will be available through his obituary link at wilksfuneralhome.com

As we honor this Super Hero of a man, it would fill his heart and ours if you were to don your favorite super hero attire as we reminisce the hero he truly was.

We called Jim Prune growing up on the North End of Warren, OH. My last memories of him were after my college years, he had moved out of State and came back. He still was humorous, yet he was a much more focused and serious man. He cared about issues that affected people and his love of his wife and family was evident. He told me that he loved his life. We would share stories and laugh and reminisce about growing up. Although we did not connect for years, I felt that the world was in a better place with him in it. He fought a hard and strong battle, now he can rest knowing that he was valued and will always be loved. May his light and love help and provide strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

My condolences to the James H. Robinson family. My name is Robert L. Stringer, Jr (Clobber), Our Family lived 2 doors doors from the Robinson family for over 50 years in Warren, Ohio. What I most enjoyed about James (Prune) is the fun we shared during our childhood days playing football in the street, playing army in the fields in our neighborhood, going to the park swimming during the summer, going to a great school (Lakeview High) and eventually playing Varsity Football for the Bulldogs. James was an excellent team player and friend. There are to many memories to list, however was a great person to friends, family, and neighbors in the Warren area. We spoke from time to time while he was in Pocatello and he sent photos of his beautiful wife and family whom he loved dearly. May he rest in peace until the coming of our Lord and Savoir, Jesus the Christ.
