John Vester Edwards, Sr.

Clover, South Carolina - Mr. John Vester Edwards, Sr. 83, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Atrium Health - Pineville.
Mr. Edwards was born in Fair Bluff, NC, and was the son of the late Von Edwards and the late Frosty Hilborn Edwards. Mr. Edwards attended Clover Liberty Pentecostal Church in Clover, SC. He was retired from Wellman Inc. after thirty years of service. John loved gardening, being outside and giving away what his garden produced. Sitting at his kitchen table he loved looking out the window at his hummingbirds and doves. But most of all he loved reading his Bible and serving his Lord. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kate Edwards; his four brothers, Roger, Bobby, Willie and Edwin Edwards; and his two sisters, Mable Strickland and Elsie McCarter
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Clover Liberty Pentecostal Church, 1045 North Main Street, Clover, SC with Pastor Michael Coe officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his children, Sherry Edwards (Mark) Tucker of Rock Hill, SC, Rhonda Edwards (Chuck) Smith of Rock Hill, SC and John Vester Edwards, II of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Mark Alan Tucker, II, Erica Adkins, Madison Merritt, Hayley Mayfield, and Chipper Smith; his brother, Woodrow Edwards; his sisters, Linda Cooke, Elizabeth Metts, Edna McClary and Shella Long; his very special friend, Wanda Strickland; and his nine great-grandchildren that will miss him dearly, especially his candy stash.
