MARIE WRITESEL JENKINS Obituary

WRITESEL JENKINS, Marie McElroy Age 93, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 31st. A longtime resident of Hull, MA, Marie loved everything about the ocean and could frequently be seen ?going for her walk' well into her 90's. A registered nurse from the last class of Mt. Auburn Hospital's WWII cadet nurses, Marie cared for thousands of people during her lifetime, working at Massachusetts General Hospital, several south shore hospitals, in post-acute care, and providing hospice care for low-income residents of Boston. Her competency and compassion were legendary, and notes of gratitude from patients and their families were a familiar sight.

Marie is survived by her five children, Christine Simoneau-Hales of Saratoga, Denise Writesel of San Diego, Leslie Cannon of Norwell, Jaime Writesel of Billings, and Maria Writesel, her enthusiastic beach companion and later, caregiver, also of Hull. Her wonderful sense of humor, work ethic, and love of life were gleefully shared with grandchildren, Mark Simoneau, Shelby Kamath, Jonathan and Brittany Cannon, Lhanna, Sophia and James Writesel; and great-grandchildren Carwen Simoneau and Ayan Kamath. She will be missed for her wit, wisdom, and independent spirit.

Friends and family are invited to a Remembrance Gathering on Saturday, February 12th 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Common Market Restaurant, 97 Willard Street, Quincy.
