Richard A. "Rick" Lord, of Crisfield, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at his home.
Born in Baltimore on October 17, 1946, he was a son of the late John Raymond and Mary Louise Yowell Lord.
Though Rick's school years were mostly in the Glen Burnie area, his father, Crisfield native and Army POW, returned upon retirement with his family to Crisfield in the mid 1970's. He later married the love of his life, Lisa Parks Lord, in 1983. They had a wonderful marriage centered on faith and putting the other first.
Rick had a magnetic personality, was exceptionally kind with a quick smile from ear to ear, and was generous and fair to all. He was an avid car enthusiast who owned, raced, and built several cars. He owned and operated "Super Service Center" in Crisfield and operated several other automotive repair shops over the years. A "Master of All Trades", he was skilled in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, woodworking, and was an excellent welder. In his earlier years, he served in the Army National Guard and also worked for the Civil Service at New Cumberland Army Depot in Aircraft refabrication on Chinooks from the Vietnam War. Most recently he worked for 17 years for the City of Crisfield as Superintendent of Public Works and Groundskeeper/Maintenance for the Crisfield Airport, retiring March 17, 2022.
Following retirement, he and his wife, Lisa, enjoyed building creative projects together which often ended up in her "She Shed" which Rick did interior carpentry on. He also loved to play golf in his spare time.
Rick was also a talented musician and singer, playing in several local bands including the Venturas, Trinity, and lastly, American Expressions. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 40 years Lisa; nephews and nieces, Raymond Nelson Lord, Jr. and wife Julie, Angela Renee Lord Foreman and husband Jujuan, Jon Robert Pearce and wife Wendy, Jason Ryan Pearce and wife Kristin, Michael Troy Parks, and Bryan Bennett Parks and wife Kristen; former sister-in-law, Anita Parkinson Lord; many close cousins and friends; and his beloved pet cat, PITA.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Nelson "Rainbow" Lord; father-in-law and mother- in-law, Robert "Puckers" and Margaret Parks; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cheryl and George Pearce.
A memorial service was Friday, June 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation was from 12-2 p.m. Rev. Jim Riley officiated. Urn interment will be private at a later date in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
