William "Willie" Chavez



William "Willie" Chavez, 82, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 48 years, Lucille Chavez, his siblings, Ruben Chavez (Rosa), Lawrence Chavez (Sarah), Ramon Chavez, Jeanette Chavez-Lober (Jack), Cathy Sandoval, and sister-in-law, Louisa Farley. He leaves behind many other beloved family members including Janice, Samantha, Mathew, and Olivia Trujillo, his Godchildren Andrew Chavez and Joshua Crawley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jessie Chavez, his nephews Frank Chavez, Andres Chavez, and Jimmy Chavez, who was also his Godchild, along with many other family members and friends. He was a hard working, selfless man, who was faithfully devoted to God, his family, and golf. He served in the Navy for six years and was an educator for 25 years at Santo Domingo Pueblo. After retirement, he spent his days working and playing the game he loved, with close friends, at Ladera Golf Course. Services are scheduled to be held at San Felipe de Neri Parish, Old Town Albuquerque, on Friday, March 11, 2022. The Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with the mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. He will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 9:45 a.m.
