I remember Jim Ellis from Hokio school - Boys Home. I have Jim to thank as I was in his house, Nathan for a few years back in the early 70'S. Jim got me into the Sea Cadets Levin, and really cared when I was a young boy. after leaving Hokio I never looked back joining the NZ Army, travelling to Dieppe barracks Singapore in 1985 with the 1st infantry battalion. later meeting my wife and moving to Brisbane Australia in 1991 where I still live. RIP Mr Ellis They shall grow not old, As we are left grow old, Age shall not weary them Nor the year condemn, At the going down of the sun And in the morning We will remember them. Lest We Forget

Being somewhat challenged regarding tech stuff, I have now been inspired to "get over myself" and say what is in my heart...which is that Jim and I had such a time of our lives (aka Jennifer Warnes)....so, so many experiences, good, not so good and many challenges. I loved him from pretty well day one , as he also loved me...always a constant, always my rock. I bloody well miss him and my heart, whilst in shards, will heal I know, AND I have our gorgeous, loving Tanya at my side. With aroha and thanks , family and friends...we will remember him eh? Megan.

So sorry to here the loss of a beautiful and genuine man and old friend. I'm just sorry I never kept in touch over the years and shared your ups and downs and happy moments. I often remembered though the fun times we shared in your garage during band practices and the times you recorded demos and how can I forget the time you saved my son Toha from drowning.
Thanks Jim and much love to Megan and Tanya

There's a candle burning for you here at home my dear Dad. Far out this hurts like hell. Geez we had some fun though.....and you were so clever and strong. You were dealt a crap hand in the end and as Tony said to me, "Jim looked at his hand and said 'nope, I'm gonna fold' and he checked out his way". Nisha you were so good to him and we wish you knew the Jim we knew too...he was a special, big hearted, fun man of strong morals and ethics. Proud to have called Jim Ellis my Dad...the man who taught me to throw a ball like a boy, back a trailer and to be honest and loyal. Part of my heart has gone with you Dad. Love you forever, from your "Brat". XOX
