My heartfelt condolences to the family. Don was a work mate at both EDS and at Transpower. I shall remember him as a gentle generous and modest man who brought high levels of competence to everything that he did.

A man of great standing in every sense. He left things always in a better state than he found them. I will miss him.

Wow, Don was a workmate back in the NZMP, Fonterra days. A very bright guy, a fountain on knowledge and one who could provide guidance and thoughts for our team members. RIP Don.

The world has lost a true gentleman, a talented, humorous and creative spirit and a proud dad. I will miss our chats at work here at Todd and feel sad not getting to know you better. In our last conversation you told me about your 'kids' and how proud you were of them. Rest in peace Don.

RIP Don. A man tall in body and spirit.

It really was a pleasure to watch your service (via live stream) and hear all the anecdotes from your family and friends - many of which rang very true, especially your work ethic and big-old-Mensa brain.

I will miss you deeply as both a colleague, and a friend. You really were a joy to work with and to just be around. "The Don" indeed! No doubt you will get a special mention from me at this year's Xmas party (if they let me host it again).

Until we meet again on the other side. You bring the cheers, I'll bring the beers.

Your friend, Cameron Pentecost.

I first met Don at Telecom when I was a Junior Architect and he was the man to speak to. We ended up team mates for a number of years and I remember him as kind, patient, considerate, diplomatic (when reigning in my outlandish ideas), always with a good humour about him and always keen for a drink and chat. Rest In Peace mate, thank you for everything. Sending his family my condolences.

Rest in Peace Don - will never forget you. Don and I go back to college days when we got into all sorts of ventures and mischief together. While the years have gone by and we spent less time together, I have always considered Don one of my beats friends and am so sad to lose him now. Farewell Don - while I am sad for myself that you have moved on, I am eternally grateful for all the time we had together and Deb and I will always keep a place for you in our hearts.

It's incredibly sad to hear the news of Don passing and I'd like to pass my condolences to the family. Don was such a wonderful man - I met him when I did the Wellington Law Revue and he was there for all of the eight years I did the show. I'll always remember the banter through the director's comms and Don's most fabulous "God Mic". He was such a lovely, talented, and genuine man. He'll always hold a special place in my heart. Don had a great Soul even when we were teenagers, tearing around in Don's old white Toyota Corona. He always a smile to share. Found an old boys brigade photo just last month, with us all in clean smart uniforms, brought back great memories. Don you may have left us too soon ,but you will not be forgotten. And to Sue, really sorry for you and your families loss. Love you all Craig

First met Don and Sarah at a quiz night with joint friends and then a number of quiz nights after that. Don had a fantastic general knowledge, great sense of humor and was a team player that encouraged others. Unfortunately we never won a quiz, more to do with the rest of us. :-)
We worked briefly at the same organisation where he demonstrated his passion and enjoyment for his work and was always keen to share his knowledge.
Was a pleasure and privilege knowing you. Rest in peace mate.

What an incredible loss for the family and the world. A true gentleman, absolute heart of gold and so genuinely authentic. I feel very privileged to have met you Don and been a part of your life (work) and been enriched by your humility, humour and kindness. I will have a few pond wines and raise my glass in honour of you xx

Don was an amazing man, a friend and a colleague who I worked closely with over a few years about 10 years ago. He stood by me at hours of need, alway stood calm, but was mighty in my respect and admiration. He openly showed love for his family and was a lovely, lovely man. I am saddened by his loss but privileged to have stood beside him as a colleague, by more so, as a friend. My love and condolences to all his closest friends and loved ones.
