SOUTHALL, Anthony
Thomson (Tony, Ant):
With great sadness we announce the passing of Anthony (Tony, Ant) Thomson Southall, 63, tragically left us after a long battle with severe depression. As Tony advocated for during his life, his loved ones would like to encourage others to be open and de-stigmatise the issue. In his own words, "speak up, reach out." In lieu of flowers and acknowledging Tony's lifetime of generosity, donations to The Cancer Society or The Key to Life foundation would be appreciated. Messages to "the Southall family" may be placed on Tony's tribute book at www.tributes.co.nz or posted C/- PO Box 14-366 Kilbirnie. Tony's funeral will be held at The Pines, The Esplanade, Houghton Bay, on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, at 2.00pm, followed by a private cremation. Parking: A shuttle van will be available from Princess Bay to the Pines from 1.00pm – 2.00pm.

It was with great sadness that I read of Tony's death he was our family lawyer for many many years and was the epitome of what a lawyer should be always a kindly word and nothing was ever to much trouble for him.
He was with our sons at St. Patrick's College and the same age as my eldest son Tony.
May the Angels welcome him into eternal happiness with Our Lady and St. Joseph.
God bless all the family at this very sad time.

A warm, kind and caring man. A great rugby team manager, and a true gentleman. I knew Tony through his involvement with NZ Universities Rugby. We last caught up at a reunion 3 years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed his company that weekend, I remember so vividly his warmth and his interest in the lives of the players he managed 25 years earlier.
Rest In Peace, Tony. You made such a wonderful impression on so many of us. You will be sorely missed.

I've known Tony for nearly 30 years. More recently I was involved with Tony as he helped with agricademy.co.nz as my chair and advisor. I spent a lot of time with Tony in the last 4 weeks ad thought we had turned the corner. He was so positive and enthusiastic always full of energy and keen to use his networks. He was remarkable. I will miss him very much.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Tony's sudden passing. As a former school chum from St Theresa's primary school in Christchurch I have fond memories of him. It was wonderful to reconnect last year at a 50th reunion of our class, that he was instrumental in organising. He was a true gentleman, with a great sense of humour and we will all miss him greatly. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. Jaynie Hudgell
