Gregory Alan Pack, of Pittsburg Ca, died Friday July 15th, 2022, at the age of 70. Greg was born on September 22nd, 1951 in San Rafael, Ca, the third of five children, to Marjorie and James Pack. As a teen he was sparked by a passion for music after a critical motorcycle injury at 15, and taught himself to play the guitar during his recovery. Over the course of his life he would go on to have 8 hip replacements, but despite this, had an incredible enthusiasm for his family and his hobbies.
Greg met Barbara Davis in 1980 and they were married on Sept 27, 1981 in Novato, Ca. They made their first home in San Pablo where they had their first child, Nathan in 1985. Shortly after he was born they settled in Pittsburg, where they went on to have 2 more children; son Justin in 1989, and daughter Christy in 1990, who was born on their 9th anniversary. Greg could not have been prouder of his children. Even though Greg endured much hip pain, it did not keep him from doing the things he loved: motorcycle riding, camping, boating, fishing with his dad, and playing guitar. He most enjoyed spending time at the family Cabin in the mountains, which he helped his dad and family build together in the 70’s. Greg was always working on a project, and could never sit still while there was something to be done. Along with outdoor activities, Greg and Barbara enjoyed singing together and often sang duets in church. He could listen to a song one time and play it in minutes on his guitar. His favorites, though, were 60’s era Rock & Roll.
He was a very generous man, often giving at his own expense. If there was anything he could do to help someone he loved, or even a stranger down on their luck, he wouldn’t hesitate to do what he could.
Greg passed peacefully in his sleep, due to complications with pneumonia, surrounded by his wife and children. Greg is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Nathan (+ wife Bridget) and Justin (+ wife Kristin), daughter Christy (+ husband Bodie), 6 grandchildren, sister Denise, brother Jim, and an abundance of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Greg was beloved by all who met him, and his positive outlook on life will be deeply missed. If you knew Greg and would like to pay your respects, a service will be held at Delta Oaks Presbyterian Church, 1251 California Ave STE 700, Pittsburg Ca, on Saturday August 20th at 2:00pm in the afternoon.
