I was surprised and saddened to hear of Bill´s passing. I saw him the previous month and seemed well, doing his walking rounds of Karori. He dropped by fairly regularly while I was working on my mother´s home on Karori Road over the past couple of years - he was generous with both advice and encouragement. I also enjoyed our conversations on a range of common interests - his motorcycles, cars, travel adventures, and professional experience. He was clearly a man of many talents and will be greatly missed.
I´m also eternally grateful for the friendship, kindness, support, and good company he gave my mother (Patricia Sinclair) over many years. My condolences to Irene and family.

Kia ora Irene & Whanau
Sending our sincere condolences to you and your whanau. Our whanau grew up with Bill in Highbury/Kelburn and some of us went to College with him and he also did plumbing for our Mama and all of us from time to time. We saw him quite recently and always enjoyed chewing the fat with him and telling a few white lies!! He truly was one of a kind, very caring, touched many lives, was extra special and know he will be missed by you, whanau & friends but never forgotten.

Sending lots of aroha

Dear Irene
I was so shocked to hear of Billy´s passing yesterday - from an old Kelburn Normal primary school friend - I just couldn´t believe it and was awake a long time last night thinking of him and what wonderful hosts you´ve both been to me and my family/friends. Billy had such a great sense of humour - he was fun to be around - Wellington won´t be the same without him! I was planning to bring my new husband, Lindsay, to meet you both next time we came to Welly (probably next week) so he could see and talk bikes, as we recently sold our Yamaha which Billy would have loved. Wish I´d known earlier so I could have come to his celebratory service on Friday. So many memories and so few words ... my heart goes out to you Irene and I send you all the love and sympathy I feel. Take care and hope to see you when you´re up to it.
Love

Dear Irene and family.
Bill was a wonderful and thoughtful person who will be greatly missed by many people who had the opportunity of engaging with him over many years.
He was a real character and I have memories of him from Kelburn Normal School days where recently he helped with some of the Class Reunions.
RIP Bill, you will never be forgotten.
Love.

Dear Irene and family. I'm so sorry to hear that Bill has passed away. I have many lovely memories of our Sunday and other bike rides, with Bill chatting away and telling terrible jokes. He helped make the push up Ohiro Rd so much more fun. Love to you all. Jean McArthur xx
