On Saturday 10 August 2024 at home. Dearly loved wife of Alan, and much loved mother of Paul & Rowan, and Philippa & the late Brian, grandmother of Sam & Zara, Ruby & Caleb and Grace. Born in Wellington on 24 April 1932, daughter of the late Gordon and Gladys Spencer (née Collins). A service to celebrate Valerie's life will be held in St Andrew's on the Terrace, on Monday 19 August at 1.00pm, followed by a private cremation. Messages for the family can be sent c/- Lychgate Funerals, 306 Willis Street, Wellington.

Several years of working together with Valerie on the New Horizons for Women Trust gave me huge respect for her energy and commitment. More recently we just met occasionally but there was always a friendly feeling between her and Alan and me and Trevor. Our heartfelt sympathy to Alan and the family from Mary and Trevor Mowbray
