So sorry to hear of dear Valerie's passing. She was a dear friend of my mother, Daphne Gifford ( nee Erceg). I remember coming to Wellington with my Mum and Agnes Erceg to help celebrate Zorica's 80th birthday. We all went to the mayoral chambers and had turns sitting in Jim's chair. The party was wonderful too and Valerie an amazing hostess. Valerie was so loved by her Uncle George Erceg and I know he valued her aroha and friendship. My thoughts go to all of her family. RIP Valerie.

I remember Valerie from my time on council when she was a wonderful Mayoress, always warm towards and interested in those she and Jim met. She has had a long and full life. May she rest in peace and her family continue to enjoy the memories they have of her.

As deputy Mayor to Jim in his second term it was always lovely catching up with Valerie, her warmth, smiles, and care for others. They were enjoyable years in the company of Jim and Valerie and at our many City events together. Heartfelt thoughts to all the family at this sad time of Valerie's passing.
