The photo that I uploaded here of Tom Forsyth with his partner Edna McCarthy, was taken on the occasion of Tom's 80th birthday celebrations in 2017. Tom and Edna often travelled to Southern Lake Taupo where they stayed at their timeshare at the Oreti Village Resort. They enjoyed their walks in the Pukawa, Omori, and Kuratau areas. In 2018, with the valuable help of his friend Denis Thom, Tom shifted into the Bob Scott Retirement Village.

Very sad to hear of Tom´s passing. Tom was a close family friend for many years who was one of my father´s longest known friends since arriving in NZ in 1950´s. We remember him as a real gentleman, a very kind quietly spoken man. We enjoyed many Christmas´s with him. Dad really treasured his friendship with Tom.

My wife and I are very sad to hear of Tom´s passing as he was a good friend of ours for many years.
I first met Tom at the Open Polytechnic in the early 1970´s where Tom taught law subjects. I worked in the same department as Tom for more than 25 years, and I was an accountancy teacher. Tom was a quietly spoken man and he was always very polite and courteous in his dealings with people.
Tom and I were active members of Forest & Bird, and we often went on their group walks in the Wellington region, including places such as the southern coast of Wainuiomata and the Pinnacles in the Wairarapa. In addition, Tom, together with his partner Edna, founded the Ramblers walking group in Lower Hutt, and this became very popular with many people. In his younger days, Tom was also a very good golf player.
Overall, my wife and I have very fond memories of Tom and we will miss him.
