Thomas MULHOLLAND Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Mulholland family announce that Tom Mulholland, aged 61, known to many as "Dr Tom" left us on the 8th of October 2023. Loving partner to Dee and father to Livi, Tommy, Sammie and Auburne. Treasured son of Tom and Marlene, adored brother of Melissa, proud grandfather to Scout, Sacha, Malakai, Kairo and Romeo, uncle to Claudia and Billy and respected cousin and nephew. Dr Tom lived an incredibly full life and has had an impact on countless people around the globe. The heartfelt messages we have received since his passing are a testimony to all of the good he has brought to the world. Messages for Dr Tom's family can be left in his tribute book at www.tributes.co.nz, this site will also host the live streaming of the service. Please join with the family to celebrate Tom's life at Te Rauparaha Arena, 17 Parumoana Street, Porirua on Tuesday 17th October at 11.00am. All welcome. Dr Tom loved the ocean and the colour blue, so we encourage you to wear blue if you are able.

Dear Livi Tommy Sammie and Auburne
Dee
Tom and Marlene and extended family
I so sorry we can´t be with you today but we will be with you from Okato

As I sit here and write this so many memories come flooding back from your time in Okato
Tom was so loved in our district
As a nurse working with him in the beginning when you all came here

I remember when he told me he was going to set up a Emergency Department in New Plymouth determination made it happen!!
Then Dr Goble WOW an amazing contribution to Health on line.
I remember
The phone call asking me to sell your beautiful villa in Okato a home that he loved
I said no your not leaving He replied Pat "it´s time to move on "
And move on you did
We missed you all so much

The memories of talks over coffee on the deck
The stories and laughs and the excitement he had about what he was going to do in the future
Tom will be remembered for the many things he has achieved but the most precious memory is his smile, his big hugs whoever you met him and his unconditional love he had for life and his family

He will always be remembered and loved
Pat and Lyndsay McFetridge

I didn't know Tom, but knew of him, through his Mum, Marlene. It's been a long time Marlene, since Upper Hutt Health Centre days, but I've never forgotten you or the pride and affection with which you spoke of your "kids". Please accept my deepest sympathy and sadness at the loss of an adored and hugely respected son, Dr, family member and friend. I'll be thinking of you as you negotiate your way through this heartbreaking reality. Love and warm thoughts, Philippa Edlin

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. He was a man on a mission, and followed through with his actions to get the health message out to those who made it less of a priority.

Words cannot express how much Dr Tom will be missed in this world.
I will always remember Tom's exhuberance, passion, inspiration, compassion, humility and heartfelt caring nature. His huge 'presence' filled a room, as much as his stature did.
I helped Tom tell 'his own story' by launching his first book at the 2005 London Book Fair, then promoted his second book and 'Healthy Thinking' programme into the corporate world.
He helped so many people in every area of his life and believed that laughter was the best 'medicine' of all.
Sincere condolences to his beloved family, friends and all the communities where his caring presence made a real difference to people.
