Thomas CARSON Obituary
Commander RNZNVR VRD (Retired). Former Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, London and Chartered Engineer. Tom passed away on 19 October 2018 aged 74. Loved husband of Margaret; father and father in law of Gary and Janine; and father of Colin. Much loved Poppa-Tom of Ben, Holly and Emily; and grandad of Tara. Loved eldest son of the late Thomas and Annie. Brother and brother in law of Les and Margaret-Mary (UK); Brother of Margaret Sharp and brother in law to Anne and the late Eddie Nickless, and Derek Sharp. Loved uncle to his nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Oncology Department and the staff of Ward 5 north at Wellington Regional Hospital. A private cremation was held on 24 October 2018.

-Very sad to just be advised of Tom's passing. I was fortunate in being able to sail with him on dev Ligar Bay and mv Golden Bay, 1978-80. Must have been the Scottish blood in us both - we always got on well, and had a lot of laughs! I was very happy to be able to have a long chat with him earlier this year, and although he alluded to the problems he was having, he still sounded like the Tom of old, and was ploughing through it with the same sense of humour that I remember. I still have strong memories of being licked awake the next morning by 'Goldie' after Tom & I had imbibed a few at the Pukemanu Pub in Martinborough a few times all those years ago.
Best wishes to Margaret and the boys - I only wish I had known about Tom's passing sooner, but was in Brisbane at that time.
