Jon Trimmer was the essence of the RNZB. I have known and worked with Jon since 1964. Not only was he a fine danseur noble in the most graceful classical tradition he evolved into many iconic images as character roles kept him onstage. Reaching a new youthful national audience as The Firewalker in the TVNZ series, touring as a very fine actor to sellout audiences in "Meeting Karpovsky". Reaching out to young and old with his popular "Makeup and Mime" tours. A consummate spirit of the theatre in every facet of his personality and talent. Louise Hawke (nee McElroy)

Before I joined the NZB in 1964 I had seen Jon Trimmer perform in Balclutha. Despite my latecomer status he fired my nascent ambition. When I eventually joined the company Jacqui was always encouraging and Jon modelled the ideal of a classical ballet dancer, who was also a consummate performer which he complemented with his make-up skills. I believe I learned much simply by observing this complete artist, and he set a standard for the whole company to aspire to. And - he was a friendly, funny, even-tempered colleague. Condolences to you Jacqui and Vale Jonty.

Thanks Jonty for all the wonderful memories. So lucky to have shared you on stage, back stage, on tour in the Co. bus! and visiting you personally to enjoy your beautiful garden. Thanks too all those years ago for meeting me at the Railway Station in Copenhagen at the beginning of my European adventures. You will remain in so many hearts with your sense of humour (sometimes a little wicked) and your gentle spirit. I hope you are dancing with the Angels and my precious man. With love & respect. I'm so sorry to hear the news about Jonty. Not only was he a great dancer, but also a very special person . . . always calm, friendly, smiling, generous and kind. Never once during my years dancing with him in the NZ Ballet or the years thereafter did I ever see him be anything else. Big hugs to Jacqui, also a very special person, and condolences to the rest of the family. Vivien van Rij (nee Anderson)
