Shirley HARRIS Obituary

Formerly of Pauatahanui. Peacefully on Wednesday 24 April 2024. Loved wife of the late Les. Dearly loved mother of Jennifer (dec), Ken, Paul and mother-in-law of Juliette. Treasured grandmother of Rebecca, Margaret, Annabel, Sonja, Andrew, and great-grandmother of Hugo. Former principal of Upper Hutt College and Deputy Mayor of Upper Hutt City. In lieu of flowers donations to Life Flight Trust would be appreciated and can be made online at lifeflight.org.nz A memorial service for Shirley will be held at St Alban's Church, 4 Paekakariki Hill Road, Pauatahanui, on Wednesday 1 May, commencing at 11.00am.

Mrs Harris was my form teacher and typing teacher when I first started Upper Hutt College in 1970. She was a lovely teacher. RIP and my condolences to her family.

I have just heard and would have loved to be at the service. I taught with Shirley at UHC for several years. She was an amazing teacher, HOD and Senior Mistress. Shirley got me to return to teaching after my children were born by stopping me in the street and offering me 4 classes. She has always been a great role model.
