Sorry to hear about Sean´s passing. He was married to the mother of one of my childhood friends and I always remember his dry sense of humour, even if it was a bit misunderstood! He was always involved with our cricket, whether it was coaching, umpiring etc or just driving us to matches.
Although the marriage ended, my friend stayed and lived with Sean for a few years after but as I´d left NZ by then I hadn´t seen him so I am sorry for his family´s loss.
He denied what would have been my first hat trick, giving not out on a tough caught & bowled at HIBS. Still adamant it was a clean catch!

In the grand scheme of things, I didn't know Sean too long but we sure shared some adventures together!.
Having met him as the neighbour of a friend, he was a character from the get-go. We fished, shared many meals, bush walked and sung together. I helped Sean around his home and he kept my dog company plenty of times. We rode pedal carts around Shelley Bay, watched cricket matches on TV, he was a Judge at my backyard rhythmic gymnastics debut (scoring me a fine 0.001) and I was his instrument provider for many play along in the lounge music gigs.
Despite his memory loss, Sean knew I had a passion for the outdoors and kiwi made Swanndris and gifted me his, he collected the best rocks to add to my collection for me and he never once forgot my name.
I'll treasure the Christmas we spent together, the stories about his upbringing, the memory of the time he forgot how to unlock his door leaving me on his balcony and his never ending supply of knitted jerseys. Thanks for sharing some of your time with me Sean.
There will always be only ooooonnnnnneeee Seanie Shannon! Rest easy old mate, you are missed.

Sorry to hear this. Played quite a bit of cricket with Sean and a little bit of football. A good man.
