I am deeply saddened to learn of Ross´s passing and would like to convey my love and sympathy to his Family..
My memories of Ross are mostly good and stretch right back to our teenage years..
I was dating his best Buddy and lifelong Friend Robin and it seems that to have one meant having the other as well.. we had a lot of fun and laughs..
They used to come and stay at my parents farm in Golden Bay and as 16/17 year ild still enjoyed "war games" as we explored the rugged hills behind our home..
Spent quite a lot of time with him when Paul was a wee guy and then it later years very little. The last time I spoke with Ross was about 7 years ago..
Im sorry that I wont be able to join you in the 23 rd but after much thought, my driving confidence is limited to areas Im familiar with..
I will be thinking of you all

Ross and I were great mates at Central School - I was in love with his parent's dachshund! I am very sad to hear from my mother that Ross has died at 73. He and I are the same age and I have often wondered what he had been doing with his life since I last saw him in the 1970's in the Hokianga. I thought he would life a long, long life.
My love to Ross's family.

I am Ross's older brother John (76) and intended adding a memory or two of my own but Vijaya De silva's wonderful evocation says it all. That was the very essence of Ross - the fastidious cook who insisted that everything must be done properly. I imagine that it was just so with his treasured ships as they sailed across Cook Strait.

Dear Friends and Family of Ross Dorman,
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ross Dorman. I have worked with him for about 17 years and during that period he has helped me so much. He was a go-to person for many people at work. He was a true legend who knew everything about ships and was like an encyclopedia. I will dearly miss him. I particularly remember the conversations we had about his travels on luxury trains in India and Sri Lanka. It is no wonder he knew so much about the world. He was also a great cook; once he told me about spending hours preparing spices from scratch to cook for his friends and family. He was so passionate about cooking utensils as well, once has bought a particular spatula, which he has seen in Briscoes. He really liked it, so he went back and bought one for me too; both my wife and I still use it, whenever we see the spatula, it reminds us Ross.
My last communication with him was on the 2nd of January when he wished me a happy new year. I never imagined he would be gone so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
