Deepest sympathy to the Hamilton family. I met Ron when we both worked at CCMAU and we have kept in infrequent contact since. I will miss Ron for his dark sense of humour, and our shared interest in politics. Ron was intensely loyal to his friends and scathing of those who crossed him. I consider myself lucky to be one of the former, and with a shared view of the latter! Unfortunately I missed the funeral notice and until today was unaware of his passing - now I know why he didn't answer his emails. Ron, you will be remembered.

Ron and I worked together in the Treasury at least from the early 70s until 1986 when I left. We were in the same Division together when this photo (apologies for the poor quality) was taken in 1972. (1970s hairstyles in a strong Wellington northerly!). He was a real stalwart of the Treasury; a great workmate with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all his Treasury friends. Colleen and I send our condolences to the family.

Leith and family, our condolences to you all at this sad time.
I had the pleasure of knowing Ron for over 70 years. Firstly at King Edward Technical College, Dunedin, in the mid 1950´s. Then over years we kept a casual relationship as our careers moved us about the country. It was not until the 2010´s that we made more regular contact, Ron in Auckland, and me in Wellington and we shared a number first class restaurant meals. The most enjoyable experience was our regular e-mail exchanges over a wide variety of topics, particularly humour and a political nature.
It will be great loss to me that these activities will now be lost. Not to be forgotten Ron old son.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of my old friend from CCMAU days whose company, brilliant sardonic humour, and treasure trove of anecdotes from his extensive public service career will remain with me always. I am so pleased that we did not drift apart after CCMAU, and remained in regular contact with each other for the past twenty five plus years. He was a special bloke and I am forever grateful for the times and sometimes robust discussions we shared together. Gone but not forgotten.

Ron and I enjoyed colleagueship in the '90s; shaping the country through the right people.
Just last week, on FB ,he advised that he had chosen his funeral music, I suggested he chose the photos he wanted used as well. That way you get to chose your best side! He was funny and serious, and had a knack in being able to do both at once. RIP friend.
