My name is Bob Stratton, I'm 74 years old and I was taught history by Ron Burrow at Papatoetoe High School, I was far from a star pupil but I remember Mister Burrow very fondly. Ron was an enthusiastic teacher who sometimes swept me out of my moronic, moribund musings and brought history alive for me. Sorry Ron I'm about 9 years late, "as usual" you would likely say, but I have only stumbled upon your obituary this evening.
Deep down you made a visceral impression on me, thank you Mister Burrow, I'm pleased to have known you !.

Ron was a history teacher at Papatoetoe High School in the 1960s. I didn't take history, so he never taught me, but he was my 1st XI cricket coach. I loved his no-nonsense approach to the game and I learned much from him that helped me to enjoy, and succeed at the game for many years thereafter. Thank you, and RIP.

My condolences to all in the Burrows whanau.I see you,Richard,Andrew and Christine in clear memory (albeit 40+ years ago). Sorry about your Dad. Equally clear memories of Ron's enthusiastic wholehearted participation in any project that caught his attention. He was a "boots and all" man and carried people along with him. He left his mark and few of us can say that. Dave Page (Tauranga)

Hi Ron's family, I was so sad to hear about his death. My dad Terry Boyle was a great friend of Ron's and our family dog Cindy came from him (Sasha was her mum and the sneaky corgi her dad). I have many happy memories of my dad and Mr Burrows together arguing about politics, he holds a very special memory for me in my childhood. Mum and I often talk about him. I am so sorry that he was not well at the end. He passed away on the anniversary of my dads death so even though the two of them are no longer around they share that and I am sure that they are still arguing about politics and taking walks.

Much love and thoughts go out to all of Ron's family.

For many years I spent watching Ron and Sascha wonder up and down the Oaonui river catching whitebait together. There were three spots on the river unofficially reserved for three people his spot known as Ron's corner, Wiki's rock and the waterfall for dad.
All three spots now watched over during the season.
Apart from the big lifts, the customary social thermos and the race to see who would be first on the river in the morning my best memory of Ron was on the odd occasion I was knowingly "absent" from high school due to river fever on the condition that a full report was offered to Ron about if it was worth, oops I mean probable, the fever continuing the next day and that some of the cause of the fever would be given to my teacher at the time which must have irked the teachers they couldn't say much however only......thank you.
