Trade unionist, softly spoken and wise. Ron always made time to talk. A real gent, and a true leader.

To Jen and extended family,

I express my sincere sympathy in your sad loss.

I had the privilege to work with Ron over many years in his role of a senior Official and then General Secretary of the Post Office Union. His capacity for hard work, determination and quality representation was recognised by his later appointments to leadership positions with the Combined State Unions and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.

Ron was a man I had huge admiration for. He excelled in a time when working people needed strong leadership. Ron certainly delivered this, often in very trying circumstances.

Rest in peace Ron. Your relentless dedication to better the lives of working people in New Zealand, will remain with me always.

Farewell Ron, A champion for the working man, quietly working away at the issues mainly out of the limelight. Well done Ron your legacy will not be as obvious as some but equally important....Kia Kaha
