I've only just come across Ron's death notice and am greatly saddened by his passing. I first met Ron at the NZ Fighter Pilots Museum at Wanaka in the 1990s and from then on frequently assisted him with background information for many of his aviation paintings. He in turn kindly designed the covers of my 'For Your Tomorrow' and 'A Passion for Flight' trilogies, and for Colin Hanson's 'By Such Deeds' which I published on Colin's behalf. It was always a pleasure to talk over the phone or meet with Ron, especially as we shared similar tastes in humour. A great loss to the country's aviation art community.

I was saddened to hear of Ron's Passing and I offer my sincere condolences to his family. Although I never actually met Ron, I spoke with him on the phone and acted as his agent in the UK where his aviation artwork is greatly admired and appreciated. As I live near his native Liverpool, we had several interesting chats about places in common. Ron's name will live on through his exceptional paintings and drawings.

To Ron's family, please accept my deep sympathies for the loss of Ron. He was a splendid, kind and incredibly talented man. His beautiful art gives so much pleasure to so many people, particularly veterans and the families of veterans. I regret not seeing Ron in his last days, but on the occasions I called he seemed content in his home environment rather than wanting to head out and we lost touch afterwards. Ron always spoke so fondly of all of his children and was especially proud of Tracy and her caring, courageous nature. Go well, my friend. Scott.
