Rolf BREDNICH Obituary

Died peacefully at home on Thursday morning at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Rolf leaves behind his beloved wife Brigitte, his loving children Anke and Carsten and their partners Rolf and Gabi, and his adored and adoring grandchildren Jan, Kai, Josie, Ben and Elaine. Rolf came to NZ retiring after a distinguished career as a Professor of Cultural Anthropology to become an expert fly fisherman and keen golfer. NZ became his second home. Everyone who knew him knows he was a fine, prolific scholar and true gentleman of the old school. A service to celebrate Rolf's life will be held in St Patrick's Church, 372/376 Makara Road, on Wednesday 6 December at 1.00pm, followed by a natural burial.

Rolf Wilhelm Brednich war ein faszinierender Lehrender und Forscher, der wertschätzend mit seinen Mitmenschen und Studierenden umging.
Ein Mensch dem man gerne begegnete und zuhören. Ich bin froh ihn gekannt zu haben und werde ihn in freundlicher Erinnerung behalten.

Rolf Wilhelm Brednich war ein akademischer Lehrer der alten Generation im besten Sinne. Er hat motiviert und begeistert; war dabei im persönlichen Umgang sehr angenehm, menschlich und offen - bei Weitem keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Ich bin froh, ihn in seiner Göttinger Zeit als Dozent gehabt zu haben. Alle seine Schüler werden ihn sicherlich in guter, ehrender Erinnerung behalten.

Some Years ago Rolf and I Guenter flew to the Tongariro National Park,Kaimanawa Forset to go Fly Fishing, " catch and release, "we stayed 1 Week in a Doc Hut, after a few Day's of eating Packed Nudels .we where tempted to eat our Catch as I got one only but Rolf had Several,Just a few Day"s ago I saw Rolf and we reminiscent and He said, "this trip had been one of the Hight lights in NZ,"but we also had Years ago a nice 4 Day Golfing Trip together all 4 of us,and sometimes the odd thing happend, Rolfs little Foot accidental happend to HIt the Golfball into a better Position.!!that we enjoyed, so thank you for your Friendship Rolf,Guenter and Helga
