I have just unearthed a letter from Rodney Allen to me dated January 1981. We worked together in Christchurch Hospital group 1973-1974 and became very good friends. I returned to Adelaide at the end of 1974 and we lost contact but he did come and visit me at my vineyard in 1981. Unfortunately our paths did not cross again. The discovery of his lovely letter has rekindled memories of our friendship from 50 years ago. I am sincerely sorry to hear of his passing.

My sincere condolences to Gerrie and family. I had the privilege of working with Rodney both at Wellington and Hutt Hospitals. He was a great mentor with a lovely sense of humor. I learnt a lot from him and he was easy to work with.

Rodney has been a colleague since I started Radiography in 1978.... I have very fond memories.... babysitting his children, cutting his favourite tie ( which I replaced) and answering one of his questions in an anatomy lesson ... ( I don't know the answer but will tell you all about the Circle of Willis)...Rodney was a positive influence in my career .... please accept my sincere sympathy xx
