Richard FORBES Obituary
Richard John Cameron:
Passed away peacefully in Auckland on 9 February 2018. Now at rest. Richard was the proud father and father-in-law of Kirsten, Dione and Bruce Forbes-Ryrie, and Bridget and Kevin Best, the former husband of Adrienne, the adoring grandfather of Caitlin, and step-grandfather of Katrina, Jeremy, Megan, Reece, Lance, Christobelle and Mirella. Richard was born in Christchurch on 21 August 1936. He was the loved son of Charles and Margaret (nee Cameron), a proud brother to his sisters Lois, Mary, Jean and Susan, and he enjoyed a very special relationship with their families; the Davie-Martins, the Gouwlands, the Rowes and the Horgans. We send our love and prayers to the Forbes family and extended family and acknowledge your loss. Richard drove Roselle to her Wedding in April 1996 in his lovely car of the day. It was really appreciated and the Aaron Neville CD was great to listen to on the way to the Church. He took an interest in our family and had a great mind. Rest easy now Richard.

A candle for my brother

Having known Richard for 50 years, and often having called on him for help and advice, his death does make me sad.
He had a brilliant mind and phenomenal memory - the latter I sometimes had cause to regret as he would remind me of things I had long forgotten.
Given his more recent health, one could not wish the circumstances any different, but along with family and other friends I will miss him.
