Raymond WATTERS Obituary

2 June 1928 – 3 February 2024, aged 95

Ray passed away peacefully at the Woburn Enliven Care surrounded by family, and the brilliant staff of the home, after a short illness. Loved and loving husband of the late Bethlyn (nee Budd) and partner Helen Stokes. Wonderful Dad and father-in-law to Jane and John Hopkirk, Carla and Gary Bentley, Andrew, and Alison Watters. Grandfather of Huia and Mike, Stephanie, Robert, Christin and Mike, Amilie, Bridget, Jaime, and great grandfather to Campbell. Brother of adored younger sister, Christine Connolly. Uncle of his much-loved nieces and nephews. Special love and thanks to Helen for her marvellous companionship to Ray. An inspirational and adventurous life defined by his academic career through and beyond Victoria University, his dedication to family and his love of rugby. Any tribute to Ray or messages for his family can be C/-PO Box 30067, Lower Hutt 5040, or left on Ray's tribute page at www.tributes.co.nz. A service to celebrate Ray's life will be held at St Ronan's Church, Muritai Road, Eastbourne, at 11am on Friday 9th of February 2024 and afterwards, internment at the Oates family cemetery, Somerset Road, Carterton, at 3pm.
